HAPPY HOLIDAYS OUT OF WORK.

Many employees get time off work either for a day, week or on a month’s vacation.

During this time, the employees get to rest and hopefully return to work refreshed.   

Some employees struggle and get stressed most of the time.

Therefore holidays help them to release tension, refocus, as well as engage in their own personal interests.        
  
Employees with unique roles in a company, have difficulty getting their back covered while away.

Some often leave “Out of Office” messages on their phones and emails which customers do not enjoy.

Well, we the employees who leave such messages do not enjoy it either!   

Three teachers, who work at God's Grace International School, a private Basic School located in Abeka Lapaz, Accra, told me they were all excited to get their holidays.

Dennis Owusu, a JHS Science teacher said: ‘I shall take this opportunity to spend time with my girl friend’.      

Josephine Bentil , a class one teacher told me that she plans to visit her people in her village. In spite of the long journey she always enjoys her trips to the village very much.              

The third teacher was also happy about the fact that she will be resting at home.            

In some institutions in Ghana where there are no holidays or vacations given, an employee's request for permission to go on leave becomes a matter of risking being replaced.

As you know, the unemployment situation in Ghana is bad and officials who are paid with our taxes care less about enforcing labour laws.

PLAGUES OF ANGER.

*PLAGUES OF ANGER*

I sit amongst the flames of fury

Plotting your very demise

Never yielding to the cry of your anguish

Your stubborn pride causing your downfall

Your pitiful riches never saving you as you messed up my life

Your tears never able to quench my burning anger

As you beg for a drop of water

You laughed at the passing of those dear to me

Shifted your eyes from my suffering and
plotted my downfall

Now watch as I pour poison on the faces of your generation

Whose stubbornness are as hard as the bones of their predecessors

A mixture of a scorpion's sting and a snakes' venom

Will be nothing more than an eyesore

As I cut open the heavens raining thunder from the skies

With the storms by my side

I rock the edges of your inglorious foundations

The nest of anger I built for you were not enough

Hence I decided to open an account

Seeing my rage alone was not enough

So I want you to have a taste of it

As I smash your head against the wall

Pleading that suicide will be mercy

I turn a blind eye to your plea

All along I wait to hear you say

‘What is wrong?
How can I help?’

And those three golden words

‘I am sorry’

Yet all these elude me

Meanwhile I still await to hear those words

Till then, feel my wrath.

A WASTE OF LOVE.

*A WASTE OF LOVE*

I wait in your humble presence

Awaiting your call

Yet you look over your shoulder and call another

I grit my teeth in pain and sadness

As my heart fails to comprehend this act

The sun that has always been close to you

Is not adored ever once

But the moon that only draws a reflection is what is worshipped

I cannot grasp the act that is being displayed

As everyday I cry with my head in my palms

Hoping and praying that you will see a sign

Yet my prayers are never answered

And I begin to question myself

‘Are my feelings not enough?
What gift should I get for you?
What kind of person do you like?’

I try to change appearances to meet your desires

And every single time and day, I get the same rejection

Only to be placed as a friend even though I long for more

It saddens my aching heart

Whenever I see you with the wrong person

Yet you smile and I tell myself

‘Everything will be alright’

Knowing deep down that I will never be acknowledged

Yet I continue to stand strong for our friendship together

Sacrificing more than I can give

Just to see you happy

Yearning deep down for your embrace

I doubt and tell myself

‘This has been nothing but a waste of love’.

A JOYFUL LOSS.

Manchester City were able to defend their title against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on February 24, 2019.

The Citizens, as they are often referred to, beat Chelsea 4-3 on penalty shoot out to claim the Carabao cup and add to the silverware in their trophy cabinet.

 The West Londoners (Chelsea), with a dip in form in recent matches were able to hold Manchester City to their game for 120 minutes often leaving City fist rated.

This has been one of the best performances Chelsea have put up in a long while; a tough match that saw both managers  displaying  their rich coaching experience and tactics.

And even though Chelsea lost, you could still see smiles on the faces of their fans. Chelsea fans showed some signs of satisfaction with the way the players played as a team.

Eden Hazard and N’golo Kante still showed the world their worth once again with their dribbling, chances creation, interceptions, counter attacking and defensive capabilities.

   Wembley Stadium was an atmosphere of mixed feelings with 80,000 fans cheering their respective clubs on to victory. Chelsea’s manager Maurizio Sarri this time round, had his selection and substitution right.

Below are some of the Chelsea players and their analysis;

Eden Hazard – He showed his class once again. As he does always, he was my MOTM in the game.

N’golo Kante – He confirmed that he is the best defensive midfielder in the world.

Emerson Palmieri - His performance on the day tells how ready he is to make it into Maurizio Sarri’s starting 11. He caused Bernardo Silva a whole lot of problems on the left flank.

Jorginho -  He was able to control the midfield as expected; taking Sterling off the ball to prevent dangerous counter attacks. It was unfortunate he was shown the yellow card.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – He is the future of Chelsea. His introduction in the 2nd half caused City's Olesandre Zinchenko problems thus preventing Zinchenko from doing his dangerous overlapping.

Rube Loftus-Cheek – Another future star for Chelsea. Showed Sarri how serious he is for the starting 11.

Kepa Arrizabalaga – Let’s forget about the little issues he had with the manager in the dying minutes. He pulled up serious saves when the Citizens looked dangerous.

Antonio Rudiger – He was really solid at the back. Blocked City’s attackers from causing harm.

   Chelsea were not lucky in the end but with the performance they put up, they still left some smiles on the faces of their fans. They lost but it was a joyful one.

A woman is the pillar of the family

A woman is God's mystery in man's life

A woman is full of life

A woman is the mother of the living

A woman is a pain killer

A woman is an inventor

A woman can make and break

A woman can bear all pains and still smile

A woman can lose her world for a man she truly loves

A woman loves unconditionally

A woman is to be loved and honoured

A woman is the neck that turns the head

A woman is a builder

A woman is the caretaker

A woman is the Home Doctor

A woman is the Interior Decorator

A woman is the Facilities Manager

A woman is the Alarm in the home

A woman wakes up early and sleeps late

A woman gives her time and virtue for her family

A woman respects and submits to her husband

A woman forebears the pain of neglect

A woman loves without looking back

A woman is full of strength to go on

A woman shields her children and her man

A woman is the music in the home

She is the listener and speaks less

She isa giver

A woman is the link between  the children and her man

She knows everyone and knows more

A woman deserves love, care, respect, attention, prayers and ultimately appreciation

God bless every woman reading this and her husband!

PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO DELIVERS SONA IN FULFILMENT OF ARTICLE 67.

Article 67 of the Ghana’s Constitution requires the President to deliver the State of The Nation’s Address (SONA) at the beginning of each session of Parliament.

Every president under the fourth Republican constitution has fulfilled this mandate.

In his third State of the Nation’s Address to Parliament,  President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, said he had instructed the leadership of his party, the New Patriotic Party, to invite the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the main opposition party, for a meeting on vigilantism.

Making reference to the by-election violence in Chereponi, Talensi, Atewa and Ayawaso West Wuogon, the president said Ghanaians had experienced too many incidents of violence in bye-elections and people still have terrible physical and emotional scars as a result of this.

‘The security services of the country will be on standby to assist this meeting,’ the president said. ‘If voluntary disbandment by the parties is not feasible, then I will initiate legislation on the matter.’

On the economy, the President said that he will not allow the country's economy to collapse under his watch, despite the economic challenges his government inherited.

He outlined a number of initiatives that he believes are in the right direction for getting the economy back on its feet.

On football, he stated that the Normalisation Committee is working to ensure that football-related activities return to normal, a year after they were halted because of corruption.

The President also told Parliament that the justice ministry and the sanitation ministry are working together to introduce bye-laws that will enforce cleanliness and try sanitation offences.

He re-emphasised his promise to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa.

WHY IS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATED?

Many women across the globe join in the celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) without knowing the history behind the celebration.

For over 100 years, International Women’s Day has been set aside to celebrate the economic, cultural, political and social achievements of women.

In the early 20th century, women became more active in their protests against oppression and gender inequality, leading marches and campaigns to demand equal rights.

During  a conference of working women in 1910, Clara Zetkin of Germany’s Social Democratic Party proposed that a day be set aside every year across the world to celebrate women and reinforce their demands.

The proposal was ultimately accepted and put into practice starting in Germany and Europe and spreading across the world over the years.

The first International Women’s Day was observed 8 March, 1914, even though the celebration day was decided in 1910.

In 1975, the United Nations announced International Women’s Day as an official day of observance for all its member countries.

Years later, the world body also instituted annual themes to promote the celebration of the day such as “celebrating the past, Planning for the Future” and “World free of violence Against Women”.

This year’s theme is “Balance for Better”.

It is meant to promote a future in which both men and women are equal in all aspects of life.

According to the IWD website, purple is the internationally recognized colour to symbolize women whilst the combination of green, purple and white is meant to represent women’s equality.

Every country has its special tradition for celebrating the day.

In Italy, for example, the day is celebrated by giving women a mimosa blossom.

In Ghana IWD is usually celebrated with a speech event by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and supported by the media. This year's speeches were broadcast live by the media to raise awareness.

At Wisconsin, staff and students shared messages on social media and discussed women's issues during lectures.

You can celebrate the day by posting pictures on social media and use the hashtags #BalanceforBetter and #IWD 2019.

People also share pictures of the women in their lives to celebrate the day.

The day is not simply a celebration.

It is a call to action for everyone to continue to push for complete gender equality.
